Winter Skin Tips For Baby

Thanks to Eucerin Baby for sponsoring this post! Please know all opinions are my own and I only share with you what I truly believe in and love!

With those chilly winter temperatures, things can get a little dry and itchy for babies skin. As a Mother to a little babe and even for those of you who are new motherhood, winter skin for babies can be worrisome. The winter season means less time playing outside and more time playing indoors with dry air that could lead to skin irritations or eczema. Luckily it’s very easy to protect our little ones against the cold weather and their winter skin woes.

Here are a few tips you can consider to make sure your babies skin stays hydrated and healthy during winter!

  1. Hydrate Shortly After Bath Time. Hydrating your babies skin while the skin is still damp is best. Using products free of paraben and fragrance like Eucerin Baby Lotion is what pediatricians recommend for baby’s delicate skin, so moms can feel safe with their choice.
  2. Apply Baby Lip Balm. Babies lips are sensitive especially around winter time because they tend to be drooly their lips tend to stay wet and the cold air can have a drying effect.
  3. Keeping Baby Bundled And Out For Short Periods. Being out in the cold will put your baby more at risk for those dreaded red, itchy patches especially on the face since that gets the most exposure. Applying thick cremes like Eucerin Baby Creme would create a barrier and protect your babies skin from any flare-ups.
  4. Taking Care of Babies Eczema. Winter time can intensify eczema, you want to keep a close eye on your baby’s skin to avoid or soothe these symptoms before they worsen. The only brand I trust when Eli has an eczema flare-up is Eucerin. Eucerin Baby products are clinically proven to be sensitive enough to moisturize and soothe baby’s delicate skin, even when irritated.
  5. Daily Bathing. Your probably thinking daily bathing, Doesn’t that dry skin out? Bathing in lukewarm water won’t hurt your babies skin especially if you use safe products free from paraben, color, and fragrance like Eucerin Baby. It’s important to keep areas that tend to get less moisture clean and always finish off with lathering your baby’s skin with Eucerin baby lotion or creme.

With cold and flu season being a risk during winter, Don’t let winter skin be another thing to worry about. As parents, our children trust us to only use safe and trustworthy products without any harmful ingredients! Eucerin Baby product’s leave me at ease in knowing my little one is being lathered in the best and safest out there!

Little Acts Of Love

You may all know February as the month for love, and for me, there isn’t anything more important than showing the ones around me how much I love them! Although we should carry this loving attitude throughout the year, it’s fun that February dedicates days especially for this! Along with Valentine’s Day on the 14th, Did you know February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day? This month I want to share with my kids how impactful it can be when we show others kindness and love.

As a mother, I like to provide for my family and show them how much they mean to us by making sure they are always well taken care of and their needs are met. Showing them little acts of love like making sure Eli always has his favorite diapers and wipes by Pampers is important to me. Providing him with a high-quality brand like Pampers is my little way of showing him his mama always looks out for his best interests!

We often shop at our local Sam’s Club, it’s so easy to stock up on our favorites! In fact, the main reason for our Sam’s Club membership was that they offered our favorite baby brand, Pampers! Right now, you can get an instant savings of $8 off the purchase of 2 Pampers products at Sam’s Club. Plus, you can get a $10 Sam’s Club eGift Card when you purchase $50 worth of Pampers.

This deal is available at the perfect time, since we were able to donate a couple boxes of diapers and wipes to our local diaper bank! I had Jude, my seven-year-old, help me with loading the donations and with the drop-off. He was really touched when he was able to understand how we’re helping those other families who needed diapers for their little babies.

It brought a smile to my face knowing that I can help other parents provide the best for their families and bringing them even just a little bit of comfort knowing that their babies will have diapers and wipes. It’s little acts of love like these that are priceless.

Be sure to visit your local Sam Club and always remember choose kindness! #ShowLoveWithPampers

Taking Care Of Our Loved Ones

Every Year we set resolutions for ourselves and we usually tend to lose the drive to achieve them after a couple of weeks. Last year I made fitness and making healthier choices a goal, and I realized I couldn’t achieve that alone after the first couple of months into 2017. So I decided to invest in trainers to achieve my goals and its been a slow process but going into 2018 I am super happy to be 15lbs lighter with less fat and more muscle, having cut back on poor diet choices that are now easy for me to keep up on a daily basis.

This year I want to take my goals from last year further and not only focus on my health but those of my parents and grandparents. A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting OptumCare® clinic and finding out more about their philosophy for providing great care and services to their patients. What I found most impressive was OptumCare offers a free community center for patients and non-patients for the 55+ community.

The community center offers a wide range of physical and mental activities like dance class and pilates, art, stretching, computers, board games, and social activities. I love the fact that the environment feels much more like a home than any traditional community center, they offer waters, snacks, and coffee to anyone who visits.

Each community center offers a full calendar of events Monday–Friday. You’ll find:

  • Fitness classes like yoga and line dance
  • Presentations on diabetes, hearing loss, healthy minds, Medicare and more
  • Fun activities like art classes, movie afternoons and parties

During my tour of the community center in Goodyear, AZ I got to peek into their gym and state of the art equipment. I was so impressed by how well thought out the center was and how focused they are on keeping their members safe, healthy and happy! Each machine was digital and members had a personalized chip they insert before using a machine which would indicate the appropriate weight/resistance to each members needs. They also offer onsite care with a nurse and exam rooms.

I was lucky enough to catch the end of their Brain Savers’ class and I really loved how they focus on keeping the mind active along with the body, After discussing exercises of reducing stress the instructor prompted the members to get up and line dance! I would have to say one of the first things I noticed was a positive energy and how happy all the members were and how friendly the staff was from the moment you walked in.

It was really awesome how welcoming everyone at the community center was on my visit. I heard so many amazing stories about how becoming a member helped with either grieving a loss or staying healthy. I had a woman tell me after losing her husband she lost herself and became really introverted. She also went on to say that when she first came to the center she was really hesitant and wasn’t even sure she would enjoy it and since then has been coming back and has found herself again!

This really hit close to home for me as I have a grandmother who is single and often home alone and we struggle with how this can affect her health and well being. I was so excited to discover OptumCare® Primary Care and OptumCare Community Centers and getting to see how well off their members were really got me hopeful and excited for my loved ones!

I decided to join the members of their Pilates class and although I knew it would be targeted for the member’s needs and have age appropriate modifications, I felt the burn and the stretching!

The instructor did a great job explaining the positioning and creating a fun environment for everyone.

OptumCare® Community Centers also offers support for caregivers. As rewarding as it is to care for our loved ones it can often be challenging and that’s where OptumCare®comes in, they offer classes for both caregivers and patients:

  • Alzheimer’s support group
  • Long-term care planning
  • Stroke prevention
  • Nutrition 101
  • Healthy living with diabetes
  • Healthy cooking made easy

Nothing aids in healthier lifestyle than having a full calendar of both physical and social enrichment. That’s why I am making it a goal to not only further my own health goals but those of my older grandparents and parents. Healthcare is so much more than just a visit with your physician, and OptumCare® gets that!

I want to thank the staff and members of OptumCare Community Center Goodyear for making my visit so welcoming and memorable!
