Weekend Getaway To Flagstaff,AZ

Last weekend we hit the road and headed north to Flagstaff, AZ! We love forest greenery and chilly weather, and lucky for us we still had little snow patches the kids could enjoy. This was our first time as a family to visit Flagstaff and I am for warning you I snapped lots of photographs! The location was to perfect not to capture and the best part of this trip was we all got to pack our winter gear that we rarely ever wear.

Although the drive is short in comparison to other trips we got to ride in this fun weekend car, 2017 Lexus NX 200t, it was roomy and a smooth ride! The boys loved this sporty body and cool blue color!

We also had this amazing opportunity to stay at Pine Canyon, which is a gorgeous luxury cabin resort surrounded by beautiful forest and golf course. We stayed in their two-story club cabin, which we literally wished we were moving into, it was a luxury cabin dream! Once I got the kids past the snow piles near the door we got inside to the coziest cabin and a really sweet welcome from the Pine Canyon staff!

We were welcomed with a delicious cheese board and crackers with a bag of their really yummy granola. I was amazed how kid friendly the staff and community was, our dear friend over at Pine Canyon even had a little scavenger hunt set up for Jude when we arrived. I mean for us as parents when we travel as a family, these little gestures are a huge deal, It’s so awesome!

The club cabin came fully stocked with everything you would need to cook and do laundry, even though the community is fully staffed and housekeeping makes my life so much easier. I have to be honest my favorite part of this whole cabin was this spacious family room with the huge fireplace! The cabin was even stocked with games we could enjoy as a family, It was a blast!

Ok, so the bathrooms and bedrooms were awesome! They looked so modern and the design was dreamy! The bed was super comfortable and the views were so beautiful. I was actually really happy that the weather was a bit rainy and overcast, It was the perfect wintery cozy stay we were looking for. A part of me would have been fine hanging in bed all day!

This bathroom was major #goals, The marble counters, and subway tile shower, I mean can it get any prettier?! Also, this may be totally random, but more places should offer black towels for when you wash your make up off, I mean it makes perfect sense! The community also offers a full-service spa, gym, and restaurant!

Their oversized deck was a beautiful place to sip on my morning coffee and take in the fresh air. Luckily we got to enjoy it the first morning before it started to rain.

Pine Canyon has a gorgeous view from their clubhouse, It overlooks this pretty golf course. During dinner on our first night, the Elk came out to graze the grass near the pound it was such an amazing sight I was totally bummed I hadn’t brought my camera! We also got to see this beautiful large bald eagle flying around as we toured the resort. This trip although a short one, it was something we definitely will always remember.

We really enjoyed the City of Flagstaff, AZ eating at local markets and doing some local shopping. It really is a peaceful little city and its surrounded by so much beauty!

A special thanks to Pine Canyon for our stay!

Monochrome Boys Room Makeover

With my ever-growing need for a home office, and the boy’s desire to always play together in what was ‘Judes’ room, I moved Eli and Jude into the same room. I was so overwhelmed thinking about this process because both kids had so much ‘stuff’ in their own rooms that I had a hard time picturing how I would manage it.

I opted for a loft style bed from Ikea since Jude was old enough to trust at this height. It left so much more room for them to play and eventually I will be getting a proper bed for Eli when he sleeps on his own but for now Its a crib mattress on the floor which makes a great lounger! I added lights from under the top bunk to double as a night light for Jude and create a cozy space for the kids to enjoy.

One of the key factors in planning a kids room is storage space, you can never have too many storage options. I found those cute wooden bins at target and they work great for easy cleanup and placing them on the bookshelf creates a more organized shelving space.

I decided to utilize some wall space for Jude’s more prized lego builds that he didn’t want his little brother to be able to get and these round wire wall shelves I picked up at Target were perfect. Although they only came in gold which didn’t match it was super easy to spray paint them a matte black.

I am still on the hunt for the perfect kid-friendly media console for under their television that offers more storage and isn’t too bulky. In the meantime, I placed these nightstands together to function as a console. I nice big area rug with a pattern that pops makes a great statement in any room. I loved this Moroccan shag rug, at first I was a little hesitant because of the lighter color but it has been so easy to maintain and clean up with my vacuum and limiting the kids snacking upstairs!

Its been so fun creating a space for both boys and it’s been so rewarding seeing them actually enjoying sharing a room together! Thanks for taking the time to check out my boy room makeover, I will be sure to update this post once I completely finish it!
