Style Meets Function- Living Room Reveal

You guys may have noticed at the end of last year we took on updating our rental homes interior paint to white from a drab yellow. Since this home is a little dated there isn’t much natural light flowing through certain rooms, the white walls really carry the light and brighten the room.

With our living room having this new found brightness, I really wanted to update my furniture to match! What I had in mind as far as inspiration was a Scandinavian and Bohemian mix that was also family friendly and functional. I wanted to make sure I kept the color palette as neutral as possible with pops of greens, pinks, and browns.

Our living room downstairs isn’t very spacious so I wanted to be intentional in picking what pieces would go where and what exactly we would need in that space. I loved the look of this Moriah geometric bookcase from Dorel Living. The soft brass finish was very pleasing to the eye and was the perfect pop against our white walls. The great thing about this piece is that it holds so many of my books and is a great way to store storage baskets for blankets and toys.

Our Moriah entertainment unit from Dorel Living is my favorite piece! It’s so beautiful with the marble textured cabinet doors and offers so much storage. I love how it sits low enough to place larger decorative items and lamps on top without disrupting our television view.

Seating in the family room needed to be ample but I didn’t want something too bulky to take away from the room to much. This Beckie Sofa and Beckie Loveseat are super cute! Unfortunatly these exact couches aren’t available until later this summer, but you can find this similar and eqaully cute Tobie Loveseat! They create that clean, bright and cozy feeling I was looking for. The fabric is easy to maintain making it family friendly, the color is neutral so adding those pops of texture and colors in the form of my throw pillow is really easy.

My family and I are so pleased with our new update and how much storage we have added to this space has made it so much more appealing and functional. This update is very budget and family friendly. These pieces arrived right to my doorstep and we got it up at set up in just a couple hours!

Must Have This Spring: Chic Turquoise Jewelry

This post was sponsored by JTV. I was paid for this post and received JTV jewelry pieces as compensation.

With spring among us, I have decided to add to my jewelry collection and emphasize on chic turquoise items. I was thrilled to see such a great selection on JTV.com and purchasing jewelry online was a super easy experience for me. I usually get a little intimidated walking into a jewelry store and having a set budget in mind. Shopping on JTV eased any of my concerns, the prices for turquoise are unbelievable and their selection is huge!

Turquoise is a vibrant, beautiful stone that has been used for thousands of years. I love finding this ancient, Native American stone set in such modern pieces.

One of my favorite pieces was this Tehya Oyama ring which had this very vintage feel with the scalloped design and the Lapis and Turquoise stone’s sitting directly on top really makes a statement!

Turquoise really stands out on its own not needing much help from your outfit. I layered these lovely gold and turquoise necklaces to spice up my white blouse. It was a very minimalist touch of turquoise but enough to make a fun and vibrant statement! My favorite pieces this spring will definitely be this amazing gold choker by Tehya Oyama and turquoise pendant necklace. These styles are so versatile!

Turquoise looks great paired with my favorite ruffled black and white blouse.  I instantly get to add a touch of color and elegance to my looks this spring with just a selection of few versatile pieces!  My earrings, necklace, and bracelet are also designed by Tehya Oyama. I was extremely happy with JTV.com selection of turquoise jewelry, but what amazed me was the great prices they offered!

Home Office Tour

This year I wanted to create a new space for me to create and keep my work organized. I thought what better way than to create a new office space here at home, away from the distractions of my kid’s toys, laundry that needs to be folded etc. I also wanted space where I had total freedom to bring on my favorite feminine touches and not have to worry about it being kid friendly.

This amazing futon from Novogratz actually doubles as a bed which is great for when we have guests but also nice for when I want to lounge or the kids want to lounge while I’m in there. (Hint: Stayed Tuned For a Giveaway!) I also like utilizing the wall space for prints that inspire me. I found these prints on Desenio, they carry a huge selection of prints and they are all on trend and affordable! Tip: If you don’t yet have frames for your prints, pick up some cute washi tape as a temporary or permanent solution!

(Round Mirror, Black Metal Shelves)

This is my favorite spot, It stores all my favorite items, my cosmetics, skin care, and hair products. Its an all in one station where I can get ready without many distractions and having everything right in front of me. I like to keep it as clutter free as possible, I opted for these cute bins from IKEA that come in various sizes which have been helpful in having plenty of storage while trying to maintain a minimalist look. I also keep some acrylic storage options for my everyday items like brushes, foundation, etc. These shelves I got from IKEA are great and go super well with my minimalist look.

I love the look of these campaign desks and this one from Hayneedle was really affordable! I had the hardest time picking a desk chair, one with wheels wouldn’t work and I really wanted something I can sit comfortably in. This chair was the perfect touch of modern/Scandinavian for my space. I love the touches of nailhead trim and texture of the lined stitched velvet, I just thought it fit so perfectly with my space! My huge fuax monstera leafs are from IKEA as well as the glass vase they are in. They have really afforadle faux florals and vases!

(Black Marble Curtain Rod, White Curtain, Rug)

My splurge item was definitely this huge brass floor mirror from CB2.  I really wanted something that would open up and bring in more light, and this mirror did just that! Its the perfect spot for outfit selfies and it looks really chic! The small bench is from HomeGoods draped with a fur piece which I also found at HomeGoods. I’ve gotten so many people asking about my little glass vase, I purchased it from Urban Outfitters last year and its no longer on thier site for me to link. I shop there often for decor items especially for vases or planters they have a great selection!

Overall I am so happy with my office space and very pleased how well my kids respect this home office as “mommy’s work room”. There is still a couple things I would like to add in the near future, specifically thinking of an inspo wall with a collage space very soon! If you work from home or just like being creative it’s important to create a space or room that will inspire you and your work. I hope I have inspired some of you to create a beautiful space or even a kid-free space for you to let those creative juices flow!

Motherhood Pure and Simple

Now that I am officially a mom of a two-year-old, I have come to appreciate the moments when my toddler is a little more independent and curious to explore and learn things on his own. Our days have changed a bit. Naps are few and far between and he asks for a snack about every 20 minutes. We have at least two or three outfit changes throughout the day, and keeping him interested in healthy foods has been fun. With his self-discovery and desire to mimic everything his older brother does, I have come to love those moments he still needs me and is so eager to help me.

Being a Mom to a two-year-old comes with its own challenges but one thing is for sure, your love keeps growing for them each day! I always strive to do whats best for my baby and still like to keep his routines simple because every day is different and Eli has days where what worked for him yesterday doesn’t work for him today (and that’s ok).

One thing has stayed the same since birth with Eli- our family’s love for Pampers diapers! I’ve trusted Pampers products with my babies since day one, through all stages of their infancy and toddlerhood. I was so excited when Pampers announced their new Pampers Pure collection!

Eli and I are in love with these diapers and their new adorable prints! You can still count on the Pampers protection and softness your baby is used to. Pampers Pure Diapers are made with plant-based fibers -the top sheet fiber blend includes a soft material that comes from sugarcane. What’s even more amazing is that 99.35% of all materials entering the planet that makes Pampers Pampers Pure products are either reused, recycled or recovered in the last year. Pampers Aqua Pure wipes are made with 99% water and contain 0% alcohol, parabens, dyes and fragrance, and are cotton enhanced. There are so many things that make me feel good about using these diapers.

With Pamper’s Pure you aren’t losing quality or protection but are gaining consciously crafted baby products for your little one! Pampers Pure diapers and Pampers Pure Aqua wipes can now be found at Sam’s Clubs nationwide, and on samsclub.com.
