With my ever-growing need for a home office, and the boy’s desire to always play together in what was ‘Judes’ room, I moved Eli and Jude into the same room. I was so overwhelmed thinking about this process because both kids had so much ‘stuff’ in their own rooms that I had a hard time picturing how I would manage it.
I opted for a loft style bed from Ikea since Jude was old enough to trust at this height. It left so much more room for them to play and eventually I will be getting a proper bed for Eli when he sleeps on his own but for now Its a crib mattress on the floor which makes a great lounger! I added lights from under the top bunk to double as a night light for Jude and create a cozy space for the kids to enjoy.
One of the key factors in planning a kids room is storage space, you can never have too many storage options. I found those cute wooden bins at target and they work great for easy cleanup and placing them on the bookshelf creates a more organized shelving space.
I decided to utilize some wall space for Jude’s more prized lego builds that he didn’t want his little brother to be able to get and these round wire wall shelves I picked up at Target were perfect. Although they only came in gold which didn’t match it was super easy to spray paint them a matte black.
I am still on the hunt for the perfect kid-friendly media console for under their television that offers more storage and isn’t too bulky. In the meantime, I placed these nightstands together to function as a console. I nice big area rug with a pattern that pops makes a great statement in any room. I loved this Moroccan shag rug, at first I was a little hesitant because of the lighter color but it has been so easy to maintain and clean up with my vacuum and limiting the kids snacking upstairs!
Its been so fun creating a space for both boys and it’s been so rewarding seeing them actually enjoying sharing a room together! Thanks for taking the time to check out my boy room makeover, I will be sure to update this post once I completely finish it!
